In Where the Wild Things Bloom, I wanted to celebrate the untamed, unapologetic energy of nature. This painting is an interpretation of a hidden thicket where colors collide and compete for the light. I used a rich, primary-heavy palette—fiery crimsons, sun-drenched yellows, and deep cerulean blues—to create a landscape that feels like it’s vibrating with life.
Using my palette knife, I applied the paint in thick, short bursts, building a heavy impasto that gives the canvas a physical, rugged terrain. I felt a sense of wild freedom while creating this; I wasn't looking for order, but for the beautiful chaos of growth. The sky peeks through in fragments of pale blue and white, providing a breath of air amidst the dense, colorful foliage.
