Artists Statement
I am inspired by the French Lyrical Abstract style — a balanced and elegant form of painting infused with the richness of the natural world and the radiance of colour. For me, Lyrical Abstraction is a way of expressing something deeply personal and emotive — a visual poetry that exists beyond words.
Colour is my language. Through it, I explore the shifting relationship between nature and art, and the way both are in constant transformation. Nature, ever-changing from moment to moment, mirrors the full spectrum of human emotion — sorrow and joy, regret and hope, love and longing. It reflects life in all its messy, glorious, and fleeting beauty.
I work with a technique of my own invention: a thickly layered surface of paint applied with a palette knife in small impasto markings. This textured surface allows light to move across the painting, bringing the abstraction to life.
My intention is to create work that is expressive rather than representational — paintings that invite intimacy and contemplation while leaving the subject open to interpretation.
My work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections across France, the UK, the USA, Canada, Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and South Africa.
