In The Quiet Unfolding, ivory blossoms spread across a ground of warm grey and taupe, their pale forms illuminated by deep charcoal beneath. Traces of peach, blush and ochre bring gentle warmth to the whites, revealing themselves gradually among the layers.
I use textured palette-knife marks to build petals that overlap, fragment and open into the surrounding space. A sweeping movement carries the flowers across the canvas, while quieter passages allow the eye to pause. There is both strength and delicacy in this encounter between dark gestures and luminous paint.
Part of my Expressive Floral series, this work explores the understated richness of a limited palette and the feeling of flowers unfolding slowly into light.
