In this work, I wanted to capture the essence of a sunlit field—specifically the golden, rhythmic vitality of sunflowers—without depicting the form itself. It is a memory of warmth and abundance, filtered through the lens of abstraction.
The composition is built on the tension between the luminous, vertical energy of the yellows and the deep, anchoring shadows of the greens and blues. Using my signature palette-knife technique, I applied the paint in short, rhythmic scales of impasto. This creates a surface that feels like a living tapestry; as the light in your room shifts, the "petals" of paint catch the glow, mimicking the way a field moves in the wind.
I see this piece as a celebration of natural radiance—an internal geography where the heat of the sun and the softness of the sky meet. It is intended to bring a sense of grounded optimism into a space, offering a "sun-drenched" moment that remains open to your own quiet contemplation.
