In Bursting with Joy, I wanted to translate the physical sensation of happiness into color and form. This painting is my emotional response to a sun-drenched morning where the light feels so thick you could almost touch it. I felt a sense of rhythmic freedom as I worked, using my palette knife to build an immense, sculpted field of soft pinks, corals, and golden ambers.
To me, the heavy impasto represents the layers of our own lived experiences—how joy doesn't just sit on the surface, but is built up over time, petal by petal. I chose this warm, radiant palette to ground the work in a feeling of safety and abundance.
Every stroke was a deliberate act of gratitude; I wanted the surface to feel restless with life, catching the light in a way that reminds me that even in quiet moments, there is a vibrant energy constantly blooming around us. It is my interpretation of a heart that is simply too full to stay quiet.
