In An Ivory Reverie, I explore the quiet presence of pale flowers against a shifting ground of silver grey, charcoal and warm taupe. Touches of blush and muted burgundy nestle within the ivory petals, adding an intimate warmth to the restrained palette.
I build the blossoms through thick palette-knife marks, allowing their curled edges to catch the light. Around them, loose gestures and exposed passages of canvas create a softer, more elusive space. Dark marks weave through the flowers, giving structure and movement to their delicate forms.
This painting holds a contemplative mood: flowers remembered in soft light, their fragility expressed through the substantial texture of paint.
