With Wilderness Flower, I wanted to capture the untamed, resilient spirit of nature that thrives in the quietest corners of Provence. This piece is an interpretation of raw survival and the unexpected beauty that bursts forth from the wild. I felt a sense of urgency and deep connection while painting this, using my palette knife to slash vibrant reds and deep indigos across the canvas, creating a surface that feels as rugged as the terrain itself.
For me, the 'Wilderness Flower' isn't just a plant; it's a state of mind—a symbol of the vibrant life that persists even in the shadows. I layered the oils to create a dense, tangled thicket of color where the light struggles to break through, representing that internal friction between chaos and peace. I hope that when you stand before this work, you feel the strength and the wild, unpolished energy I poured into every stroke, reminding you of the beauty that exists in our own untamed places.
