In Passion for Poppies, I wanted to explore the duality of fragility and fierce resilience. There is a specific kind of intensity in a poppy field—a scarlet rhythm that feels like nature’s own heartbeat. As I painted this, I felt a deep, driving energy; I used my palette knife to sculpt the oils into thick, petal-like peaks, creating a surface that is restless and alive.
For me, the fiery reds and deep crimsons are a translation of pure, unbridled emotion, grounded by the earthy greens below and softened by a hazy, atmospheric sky. I didn't want to just paint flowers; I wanted to paint the pulse of the field.
This work is an interpretation of those moments where we feel most alive—vibrant, unapologetic, and standing tall against the horizon. I hope that when you live with this piece, it brings that same sense of bold, beautiful passion into your daily life.
