With In a Bed of Roses, I wanted to surrender to the feeling of pure, cushioned comfort—the kind of softness that heals. When I painted this, I wasn't just thinking of a garden; I was thinking of a state of grace. I chose a delicate, airy palette of oyster whites, champagne, and dusty blushes to create a surface that feels like it’s made of light and silk.
My palette knife moved with a gentler rhythm here, sculpting the impasto into soft, rounded peaks that catch the light like velvet. For me, this piece is about the beauty of being held by nature. I felt a profound sense of relief as the colours merged, an interpretation of that fleeting moment when you finally let go of the day and allow yourself to rest.
