In Blooms in the Dark, I wanted to capture the ethereal, almost ghostly beauty of a field under the silver glow of a full moon. There is a profound sense of mystery that arrives when the sun sets—a time when colors soften into shadows and light becomes a precious, flickering thing. This painting is an interpretation of that stillness, dominated by deep sapphires, cool indigos, and midnight teals.
As I worked with my palette knife, I felt a sense of quiet reverence. I sculpted the blossoms in a thick, luminous impasto of whites and soft creams so they appear to 'pop' against the darkness, much like real flowers catching the moonlight. For me, this piece represents hope and clarity in the midst of uncertainty.
