How do I get to the Painting Vacation accommodation?
If you are attending the painting vacation week or weekend with Art by Wietzie and will be staying at Maison du Midi for the duration, we offer a complimentary group transfer to and from the venue departing from Nice airport.
Our transfer to Maison du Midid will collect you on the first day from the Nice airport at 1.00pm. We will email you with the exact meeting point and other instructions a few weeks prior to your arrival.
Our transfer from the accommodation will take you back on the final day to the Nice airport departing at 10.00am.
How do I book and pay?
To book one of our painting vacations, go to the information page for that retreat and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click on the button "Register Now". This will take you to our booking website, where you can select your painting week and pay. Our preferred payment method is PayPal.
If you are booking more than 8 weeks from the scheduled start of the painting vacation you can confirm your booking by paying a deposit of 600 euros. Your booking is confirmed once this deposit/payment is received. The balance of your vacation is payable not less than 8 weeks before the scheduled start. For bookings made less than 8 weeks in advance of the start of the painting vacation, the full amount must be paid at the time of booking. If full payment is not received by the 8 week deadline, Art by Wietzie reserves the right to give notice in writing that the reservation is cancelled. Please see our Terms and Conditions page.
What if I need to cancel my booking?
Once paid, your deposit is non-refundable. If you have paid the full balance for your painting vacation and cancel more than 8 week before you are due to arrive, then we will refund the balance (minus the deposit amount) in full. If you cancel your booking 4 to 6 weeks before you are due to arrive, you will get 50% of the balance (minus deposit) refunded. If you cancel 2 to 4 weeks before arrival, 25% of the balance will be refunded. If cancellation occurs less than 2 weeks before your arrival, no refund if offered. Any bank/PayPal charges will be deducted from the refunded amount. Please read our Terms and Conditions before you book.
You are strongly advised to arrange comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, accident and emergency, and your personal belongings, since these are not covered by Art by Wietzie’s insurance.
What happens if the painting vacation I booked is cancelled?
If a given painting vacation has fewer than the minimum number of bookings 4 weeks before the course is due to start, the painting vacation will be cancelled and any persons who have booked to attend will be notified immediately. The minimum number of participants for any given vacation is 4.
If a course is cancelled by Art by Wietzie, the full payment (including deposit) will be 100% refunded immediately. We only refund payments made in relation to bookings with Art by Wietzie, we do not refund the cost of travel.
If I am attending an painting vacation, can I bring a non-participating partner/friend?
Yes - If you are travelling with a non-participating partner, on completing the registration form, please inform us in the comments section.
The non-participant rate includes all meals, and we will assist in scheduling alternative activities (at additional cost, depending on the activity).
Do I need to have painting experience to attend a vacation?
Everyone works at their own pace, so all are welcome!
What should I bring with me?
We recommend that you bring cash for incidentals, budgeting approximately 15-20 euros per day. Because most of our workshops are set in the countryside and you will likely be spending a lot of time outdoors, it is essential that you bring a hat, sunscreen, and mosquito repellent.
We will provide all art materials, Charvin/Sennelier acrylic paint, palette knives, mediums, paper, canvases/boards, medium, solvent, and easels. Just bring some play clothes- as it might get messy!
What will the meals be like?
We will provide a french style breakfast, followed by a light lunch of salads, quiches, soup and/or pasta. All lunches will be accompanied by our pick of Provencal wines.
We happily cater to dietary requirements, preferences and allergies. Please let us know your dietary requirements at the time of booking by completing this section of the registration form.
How can I take my paintings home at the end of the course?
We recommend that you purchase a wet painting carrier from raymarart.com these are easy to carry and not too expensive, although these are only suitable for carrying panels. For transporting canvases which are still attached to their stretcher bars you can look at guerillapainter.com
Make sure to buy one that fits the size of the canvas or panel you will be painting on. We will email you the measurements 8 weeks prior to the retreat.
If these options don't suit you then we can help you to wrap and package work into your suitcase or help arrange shipment of your work to you - the cost will depend on the shipping company.
